Testing is never “complete”.
Exhaustive testing is a mathematical impossibility. In a product of any real complexity, the state space is infinite. To claim you have “fully tested” anything is to admit a lack of imagination regarding how a product can fail.
The trade-off of depth.
Pursuing a Mystery Task is a strategic choice. Every minute spent investigating a single complex problem is a minute stolen from surveying the rest of the landscape. Excellent testing is the constant management of this unavoidable tension.
Quality is subjective.
Logging a Seagull Icon as a bug is more than a mistakeβit is a failure of modeling. Quality is value to some person who matters. When you confuse intended behavior with failure, you provide noise, not information.
